Request for Expert Review: International Survey on Nimodipine Use in Aneurysmal Subarachnoid Hemorrhage (aSAH)

Dear colleague,

As part of a collaborative effort, we have developed an international survey questionnaire aimed at capturing the current practices regarding the use of nimodipine in aneurysmal subarachnoid hemorrhage (aSAH). While nimodipine is widely recommended for preventing delayed cerebral ischemia (DCI) based on historical evidence, its real-world use—including indications, dosing, and routes of administration—appears to vary significantly across centers. This variability likely reflects differences in patient presentations, local protocols, logistical organisation and clinical judgment.

Our goal is to document these practice variations through this survey, which we intend to distribute to physicians managing aSAH patients worldwide. The insights gathered will not only highlight current trends but could also inform the possible design of future observational or interventional trials to optimize nimodipine use in this critical setting.

The survey is less than 15 minutes. Your responses should pertain to the standard management of patients with aSAH in the ICU where you work.

This survey was elaborated with LXO Pharma, an European drug company that commercialize the original nimodipine drug (Nimotop®) in some parts of the world. The company was involved in the survey design but will not be involved in the data storage or analysis.
The study received ethical approval. Your email address is not required and will not be collected. However, we would be very grateful if you could provide your email address in the last question of the survey. This will allow us to keep you informed of the results and share future projects related to this topic.
You will find all the details in the attached study brochure.
